Personal Care Aide (PCA) – Job Description

Position: Personal Care Aide (PCA)
Department: Home Care Services
Reports to: RN Supervisor / Administrator

Job Summary

The Personal Care Aide provides compassionate, hands-on support to clients in their homes. PCAs help clients maintain independence, safety, and dignity while assisting with daily living activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on personal care (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting)

  • Assist with mobility, transfers, and ambulation

  • Support with meal preparation, feeding, and hydration

  • Perform light housekeeping and laundry

  • Provide medication reminders (non-clinical)

  • Offer companionship and emotional support

  • Observe, document, and report changes in client condition

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and respectful environment

  • Follow care plans, agency policies, and Medicaid/DMAS guidelines

Qualifications

  • PCA Certification or CNA (accepted for PCA role)

  • CPR/First Aid preferred

  • Reliable transportation

  • Ability to lift 30–50 lbs and perform physical tasks

  • Strong communication and professionalism

Position: Home & Apartment Cleaner
Department: Residential Cleaning Services
Reports to: Cleaning Manager / Administrator

Job Summary

Home & Apartment Cleaners provide high-quality cleaning services to ensure clients’ living spaces are sanitized, organized, and welcoming. This role is ideal for detail-oriented individuals who take pride in maintaining clean, safe environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize bathrooms (toilets, tubs, sinks, floors)

  • Clean kitchens, including counters, appliances, sinks, and floors

  • Vacuum, sweep, mop, and dust all required areas

  • Change linens, make beds, and organize living spaces

  • Remove trash and recycling

  • Perform deep cleaning tasks as assigned (baseboards, windows, ovens, etc.)

  • Restock paper products and cleaning supplies as needed

  • Maintain cleaning equipment and follow safety protocols

  • Ensure excellent professional customer service

Qualifications

  • Prior cleaning experience preferred but not required

  • Ability to lift 20–30 lbs

  • Reliable transportation

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently

Ms. Koya R. Hughes, RN, our Nursing Manager here at Serene Solutions Healthcare LLC. With an extensive background in nursing, Ms. Hughes brings a wealth of experience to our team. Her career includes serving as the head and charge nurse at correctional facilities, providing exceptional care in a Level I Trauma Center, and ensuring that elderly patients live with dignity and receive the highest quality care in local nursing facilities. A soon to be, Registered Nursing Graduate, with over 20 years of experience in the medical field, including service with the US Coast Guard, renowned cancer treatment facilities, and neuro services, Erica brings a wealth of expertise and education to our team. Shira Charpentier, RN, Assistant DON

Shira Charpentier is an accomplished Registered Nurse who joins Serene Solutions Healthcare LLC from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where she served as an Assessment Nurse and Director of Health Services for BrightStar Care and Camp Blue Skies. With more than 17 years of diverse nursing experience, Shira brings an exceptional level of clinical expertise, leadership, and compassion to our organization.

A graduate of the University of Rochester in New York, Shira has built a career specializing in home care, community-based health services, mental health, and special needs populations. Her background includes conducting clinical assessments across multiple states, working extensively with adults and seniors requiring personal care, skilled assessments, and individualized support plans.

Throughout her career, Shira has demonstrated strong proficiency in:

  • Comprehensive assessments for ADLs, IADLs, and Medicaid-based services

  • Care planning and coordination

  • Managing interdisciplinary teams and supervising care staff

Nurse Practitioner Jewel is an exceptionally skilled and accomplished clinician whose educational background and professional experience make her a tremendous asset to Serene Solutions Healthcare.

She graduated from Norfolk State University with a Bachelor of Science, then advanced her training by earning a Bachelor’s in Health Services Management from Old Dominion University. She went on to obtain her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) as a Nurse Practitioner from Walden University.
